DEK has appointed Pamal Sharma as Chief Information Officer

DEK has appointed Pamal Sharma as Chief Information Officer with global responsibility for ensuring the future development of management information services (MIS), electronic data interchange (EDI) and all general data and voice communications. Before joining DEK, Sharma was European MIS manager for CHEP, a company specialising in the rental of pallets.

CHEP has more than 250 sites in Europe alone and operates in 35 countries globally, requiring extensive MIS and network support to operate.

Sharma had teams in the UK and Europe reporting to him.

During his time there he installed sales management systems (now known as CRM) and did SAP installations as well as installing LANs and WANs.

Before CHEP Sharma worked for Pulse Engineering as European IT manager with similar responsibilities to those he had in CHEP.

Sharma's first role in commercial industry was with Oxford Instruments, where he held various roles over 10 years culminating as the Head of Computing.

Sharma is of Indian descent and this additional experience is very welcome as DEK continues to see business growth in Asia.

He is also a Chartered Physicist and Chartered Engineer and has a PhD on research into floppy disks for 3M Corp.

John Hartner, Managing Director at DEK, says: "Despite the industry downturn, we are investing to ensure DEK people and systems continue to exceed our customers' ever changing requirements.

Pamal and his team will make this happen through improved MIS systems and services".
