Shenzhen plant to play major global role
A new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Shenzhen is expected to account for 50% of DEK's total worldwide production by the end of 2007
"The benefits to our Asian customers of this expansion program are numerous", comments Martin Luff, DEK Logistics Manager.
"Faster turnaround of spare parts and consumables coupled with improved and more efficient service levels are factors that they will find hard to ignore".
In addition, DEK is aiming to introduce password-protected direct access to its inventory for customers within six months.
This will further increase the flexibility of the DEK online ordering process, which already operates on a 24/7 basis.
The close link with TNT means that customers can benefit from the company's full service programme.
This includes a next day delivery option, customer collection and personal delivery.
Further benefits of the new channels include reduced freight costs for customers and more effective stock control, as DEK is able to monitor customer orders more closely.
Risks of stock being delayed in customs are also greatly reduced.
