Optical adhesive bonds
stronger than fibre
Optodyne UV is a new range of high-performance adhesives from Daikin Chemical Europe
Typical applications for these materials include bonding optical fibres (quartz to quartz or quartz to BK-7) and the bonding of photoconductive wavepath cladding. Optodyne UV adhesives are easy to use and give exceptional performance in terms of ease of use, refractive index range and bond strength.

Laminate system cleans up flex circuit designs
Halogen-free transparent epoxy polyimide laminate system is safe for the environment and delivers superior performance in an all-inclusive package for flexible circuit designs
They have a wide and useful refractive index range (1.45 to 1.51) and have been described as "designer adhesives", bringing together the benefits of fluorinated chemistry with the best of acrylic and epoxy technology to maximum benefit.
The products are claimed to offer many benefits in handling and use.
All Optodyne UV grades are single-component systems with long pot life, low viscosity and fast UV curing.
They can be dispensed cleanly from Daikin's original packaging, with no outgassing or post curing.
Optodyne UV performance is said to be unique among optical adhesives.
The fluorine contributes excellent light transmission with remarkable bond strength and durability, particularly in hot humid environments.
When tested, after 1kh at 85C and 85% relative humidity, the bonds were still stronger than the optical fibres and components to which they were attached.
In the coming months Daikin Chemical Europe's new business team will launch other specialities for coatings including antimarking coatings, resins and surfactants.
