The General Embedded Machine Engine (GEME) enables anyone to quickly implement motion control, vision capabilities, remote I/O and other functions in factory automation or machine control systems, video surveillance, visual inspection and other applications. Comprising a compact chassis with embedded SBC, embedded software, onboard Flash or 2.5in HDD storage and PSU, and supported by PMC and PC/104 special function interface modules, the GEME range streamlines hardware and software development, eliminates design risk and reduces manufacturing costs. The Adlink GEME 1000, GEME 2000 and GEME 3000 units are fitted with SBCs based on the Geode GX1-300, Celeron 650 and Pentium III 800 processors, respectively.

Special versions of the GEME2000 and GEME3000 units, featuring video capture ideal for video applications, are also available.

Standard external interfaces include USB, 10/100 Ethernet, a CompactFlash socket and external IDE interface, as well as a COM port, floppy disk interface and PC KVM connections.

Each unit is capable of accepting one PMC and up to three PC/104 extension modules.

Available modules support functions including 4- and 12-axis stepper control, four-channel video capture for NTSC and Pal, up to 64-channel digital I/O, serial communication protocols, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, CAN control and others.

GEME speeds development by providing hardware drivers and libraries for Microsoft Windows CE/NT/2000/XP Embedded, Linux kernel 2.4.18, and BC 3.1 under the DOS environment.

Designers are simply required to select the desired combination of base unit, extension modules, operating system, RAM and storage.

This process can be assisted by Crellon Microsystems technical staff, who then work directly with Adlink to ensure the unit is built and delivered to the customer's specification.

The base unit measures 183 x 144 x 110mm, and also includes 5V/1A and 12V/1A DC power outputs.

A field ground is also provided.

The unit can be free standing, or is wall-mountable using the brackets provided.

All GEME units are capable of operating over the temperature range 0-55C, and the operable humidity range is 0-90%.
