Alan Naumann has been hired as president and Chief Executive Officer of CoWare. Naumann's extensive experience in the high-tech industry puts him in an excellent position to lead CoWare through its next stage of growth. His background includes top management roles at leading EDA, software, Internet and computer companies.

"I joined CoWare's board of directors in October and was excited about the success and potential of the company.

Over the last few years, CoWare has played a key role in defining the next generation of EDA and is leading the charge into the new and rapidly growing electronic system-level (ESL) market.

The last time there was a major growth opportunity like this was when Synopsys brought synthesis to the market.

This time, the growth opportunities are even greater and the potential impact on customer productivity is very significant".

"Alan was one of the fastest-rising stars during his 10 years at Cadence", stated Joe Costello, former President and CEO of Cadence, and currently Think3's Chairman and CEO.

"It's great that executives of his calibre are back in the electronics/EDA industry.

It's an exciting time for EDA with several successful IPOs in 2001 and significant growth ahead, particularly in CoWare's spacesystem level and SoC design and verification.

Alan's extensive industry background along with his refreshing enthusiasm should prove to be a great asset for CoWare and the industry".

Naumann's experience includes management positions at Cadence Design Systems, Calico Commerce, and Hewlett Packard.

During his ten years at Cadence, he played key roles in helping Cadence grow the company from a small, privately held niche player into the leading EDA provider with annual revenues in excess of $1 billion.

One of Naumann's roles at Cadence was as vice president and general manager of the Alta Group, which became the fastest-growing business unit in the company by providing innovative DSP and system-level design tools.

While CEO of Calico Commerce, the company was recognised as the 14th fastest growing company in Silicon Valley.

"As the founder of CoWare, I led the search team for a CEO who could take CoWare to the next level and into the global mainstream adoption of our products", stated Guido Arnout.

"Alan is the perfect fit.

He's a proven CEO with a strong background in our market segment.

I look forward to working with him".

Arnout retains his position as Chairman of the Board with the company and will work closely with Naumann to continue CoWare's success.
