Lead-free inductors handle more power
The low-voltage, high-current DZM Series of lead-free power inductors is designed for use in switching power supplies and portable electronics
The low-voltage, high-current DZM Series of lead-free powerinductors is designed for use in switching power supplies andportable electronics. Unlike other low-profile inductors, the DZMinductors are free from thermal aging effects of standard ironpowders, offer increased energy storage, are lead-free, and RoHS(Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant.

The low profileand improved DC bias performance of the DZM inductors allowsdesign engineers to increase power handling and performance oftheir products, without sacrificing valuable board space.
Thedesign of the DZM Series reduces failure modes often found withplating and solder terminated wires and leads while minimisingcontact resistance.
The unique multigap technology used tomanufacture the device also reduces fringing flux and stray fieldemissions.
The core material is specially formulated to avoidthermal aging, minimise core loss, and provide a MTBF of greaterthan 1Mh operation.
The DZM inductor filters and smoothes ACripple current in DC circuits using a 200C insulation system andis well suited for operating in environments with a -40 to +155Ctemperature range, such as laptops, power convertors and portableelectronics.
The DZM series, which is an extension of the DXMfamily, is designed to handle higher currents, up to 50A, withinductance ranges of 0.10 to 3.0uH and are available in the same13 x 13 x 6.0mm package size as the DXM inductors.
'The DZMseries of inductors allow design engineers to increase powerdensity, further optimising their switching power supplydesign', said Matt Chamberlain, Marketing Manager for CoEvMagnetics.
'The device's small size, low resistance, high frequency performance, reduced roll-off at high currents andresistance to thermal aging makes it suitable for laptops, voltage regulator modules (VRMs), point of load (POL) supplies, and other extreme environments'.
