Automation production system specialist Contax has made 10 new appointments to boost its sales and service support. This expansion is due to a dramatic increase in sales over the past months, following an upturn in manufacturing industry. Contax is also focused on specific industry sectors, including medical and automotive, which have added to the company's growth over the period.
Within the sales division, the new appointments are: Bob Thornton, as UK Sales Manager, PCB Division; Roy Goshawk, Area Sales Manager, PCB Division; Terri French, Cable Team Sales Co-Ordinator; and Lyndsey Taylor and Claire England in Sales Order Processing.
For service and support, Contax has appointed: Alex Pollock, Service Manager; Martin Noble, Assistant Service Manager; and Chris Lidgey, In-House Engineer.
Two further appointments have been made at the new Benelux office: Tom van Tongelen, Sales Manger; and Jef van Hees, Customer Service Engineer.
Bob Thornton has just been promoted within the company to the role of UK Sales Manager, having previously been responsible for the South of England territory.
He is now looking to develop and maintain a strong sales drive, focusing on a broad span of customers - from the smallest manufacturers to multinationals.
He will also be targeting niche markets, specifically in automotive, medical, industrial, telecomms, research and new technologies.
Thornton has worked in the engineering industry for 18 years, initially as a design engineer, and was previously with Marconi.
Roy Goshawk, Area Sales Manager, will be responsible for PCB sales for the South of England, covering an area ranging from Birmingham down to Cornwall and Kent.
His remit will include problem solving, design advice and customer relationship management.
Goshawk's approach is very 'hands-on' and he can offer a true consultancy service to his customers.
He brings to the position a wealth of experience within the industry spanning over 20 years, and was previously a process engineer.
Alex Pollock, Service Manager, will be responsible for field and in-house service and support for both the PCB and Cable Divisions at Contax.
His position is totally customer-focused, and he will be developing and managing the processes and procedures required to ensure that Contax maintains and exceeds its high standards of customer care.
A highly skilled and talented customer service manager with over 25 years' experience, Pollock was previously Regional Service Manager for Xerox Engineering Systems.
As assistant to the newly appointed Alex Pollock, Martin Noble, Deputy Service Manager, will be providing the day-to-day contact for customers and managing the logistics of a busy service desk.
Noble originally trained as an engineer, and has worked in service and support for 14 years.
He has covered many areas of engineering and was previously with Plessey Avionics as a Calibration and Repair Engineer.
Chris Lidgey, In-House Engineer, has joined the service department, and will be commissioning and repairing both PCB and cabling equipment.
Previously manufacturing manager at Total Interconnect Solutions, a PCB assembly subcontactor, Lidgey is a qualified engineer with over 10 years' experience.
