Tony Bullimore is one of Britain's best known sailors with more than 250,000 ocean racing miles under his belt is a leading contender for The Race, the 27,000 mile non-stop circumnavigation to mark the millennium starting from Barcelona yesterday. As in the past when arduous conditions are part of the equation, CMP batteries (Standby Division) has supplied Tony with the Sonnenschein Sportline range of marine batteries which are ideal for use onboard where continued battery maintenance can be avoided. Lenny Henry, the entertainer who sailed with Tony in the recent televised transatlantic record attempt cracked a bottle of champagne across the bows of 102ft catamaran named Team Legato in the Bristol harbour before they set sail.

The race is a no-holds barred round-the-world yacht race from Barcelona, the course takes the fleet down the Atlantic and around the Cape of Good Hope before chasing around the Southern Ocean to Cape Horn and returning to Marseilles.

The winner, which could easily be Tony Bullimore, is expected to complete the marathon trip in as little as 65 days.

"It will be a tough race and I must have the best equipment if I am to have a chance, and the 'Sportline' from CMP is a must for me", said Tony as he loaded them on board.
