Cambridge Positioning Systems has licensed its E-OTD high-accuracy location technology to Ericsson

The two companies have worked closely on the development and deployment of the technology with CPS' Cursor E-OTD solution now integrated into Ericsson's Mobile Positioning System. Currently, six E-OTD trials are underway across the USA as GSM wireless operators work towards meeting the FCC's E-911 mandate for wireless handset location accuracy.

CPS Chief Executive Chris Wade said: "Seeing major global companies integrate your technology - and then offer it to their customers - is a significant development for our business.

It underlines that there is real industry commitment behind E-OTD with major vendors not only adopting the technology but also their customers deploying it".
