Congatec, a manufacturer of embedded computer modules, has launched the Conga-MCB, a mini carrier board for Com Express Compact modules that is suitable for space-critical applications.

It is also suitable for the quick construction of prototypes but can be used for high-performance mobile applications.

The mini carrier board measures just 145 x 95mm and features various interfaces based on the latest standards.

It can accelerate the evaluation phase of the design-in to ensure a rapid market introduction, according to the company.

In addition to four USB ports and a Gigabit Ethernet connection, the graphic interfaces include Displayport, HDMI, LVDS, DVI and VGA.

Beyond that, the board also offers other standard interfaces, such as high-definition audio and a mini PCI Express socket, which can, for example, be used for WLAN.

For the connection of mass storage, two SATA, SD Card and CFast ports have been integrated.

Power can be supplied using 12VDC or 5VDC in standby mode.

All necessary signals for battery management are available so that the Congatec Smart Battery Manager (Conga-SBM2C) can be used directly to facilitate the implementation of a mobile system.

When using an ACPI-capable operating system such as Linux or Windows, communication with the battery system is fully implemented; special software or a BIOS adaptation is therefore not necessary.
