Quality systems set for approval
Cinch Connectors has been recommended for ISO9001:2000 accreditation.
Cinch Connectors has been recommended for ISO9001:2000 accreditation, the new quality standard that concentrates on achieving customer satisfaction, measured performance and continuous improvement through a process-driven approach.
Explains Tim Steele, Quality Manager at Cinch: "We have had to formulate a quality policy statement that covers our business, then establish objectives that enable us to meet the quality policy.
Each objective is measured, monitored and communicated to everyone".
He continues: "The difference between the new version and the older 1994 standard is that the 2000 standard focuses on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
BSI has assessed us throughout the transition process with the result that we have been recommended for approval.
We hope to have formal notification that we have achieved ISO9001:2000 accreditation next month".
Adds MD, Ian Burnell: "In December this year the old standard ceases to exist, and companies have to decide whether to try to get the new accreditation.
We are already well ahead of the field - as demanded by some of our major defence customers.
However, all market sectors will benefit from the improved systems that we have put in place".
He concludes: "The next step for Cinch Connectors is to achieve the environmental standard, ISO14001, followed by AS9100, the aerospace approval".
