Soft-Shield 4850 uses electrically conductive silver-plated fibres dispersed within a low density foam to give cost effective shielding combined with low closure force.

Soft-Shield 4850 from Chomerics Europe is an EMI shielding gasket that uses multiplanar z-axis conductive foam technology to help it deliver shielding effectiveness of 95dB average.

The UL94V0-certified material is ideal for use as a shielding solution in consumer and commercial electronics, telecomms and information technology applications such as backplanes, I/O panels and access panel cabinet seals.

Soft-Shield 4850 uses electrically conductive silver-plated fibres (no nickel material is used) optimally dispersed within a low density foam to give a low closure force, cost effective shielding solution with excellent through-resistance and compression set properties.

In order to simplify assembly, provide gasket adhesion and optimise electrical interface resistance, Soft-Shield 4850 can be specified with a selectively coated pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA).

The material is manufactured in rolls and can be easily and economically converted into profiles applicable for I/O panels, backplanes, connectors, access panels as well as rectangular or square strip gasket seals.

Soft-Shield 4850 is fully RoHS compliant and has an operating temperature range of -40 to +70C.
