Cetecom has commissioned a second test system for over the air (OTA) performance testing according to the CTIA requirements

The state-of-the-art system is located at Cetecom's headquarters in Essen (Germany) and will be the first accredited testing facility of this kind outside the USA that is operated by an independent test laboratory. In addition, Cetecom is to install a third OTA test system at its facility in Saarbruecken, also in Germany.

This system is expected to be ready for operation at the end of February 2005.

When the new requirements for the PTCRB approval of mobile communications products came into effect in June 2004, Cetecom began offering this test service at its location in the USA.

But thanks to the current expansion of Cetecom's OTA testing capacities, European customers seeking to enter the North American market will now have access to this service directly in Europe.

Cetecom's range of services for OTA performance testing will cover GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900, 3G technologies and Bluetooth, and will include the measuring of effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) as well as total radiated power (TRP) and total isotropic sensitivity (TIS).

Beside the report required by CTIA, the documentation of the test results will provide a supplementary element which is unique: Cetecom's customers can receive an animated three-dimensional graphic of the measured data that can be viewed with a tool especially developed for this purpose.

In addition to the scope of measurements required by CTIA for mobile phones/handsets and integrated devices that are handheld portable, Cetecom will also offer testing services for different kinds of antennas according to the customers' specific requirements.
