The COM-2(CB)H and COM-1(CB)H can be used to add one or two additional RS232C serial communication ports to PCs equipped with CardBus compliant PC card slots. Using the supplied driver software, the ports can be recognised as standard COM ports by operating systems such as Windows and Linux, and can be used in the same way as other COM ports recognised by the operating system.
A dedicated API function library is also available for advanced communications programming (available for download free from the Contec website).
As the new cards have a high degree of compatibility at the driver level with Contec's existing PCI boards, which provide the same function in desktop PCs, existing application software can be reused without modification.
The boards comply with the requirements of the EU RoHS Directive.
