Four new microprocessor supervisors have been added to the growing portfolio of mixed-signal power management products from Catalyst Semiconductor

Seven standard threshold levels, ranging from 2.32 to 4.63V, are available. The active-low output CAT809 and active-high output CAT810 are available in the compact SC70 package. The SC70 uses 45% less PCB area than the larger SOT23 package. The 4-pin CAT811 and CAT812 supervisors have a manual push-button reset function.

All devices have a guaranteed 140ms reset period.

Additional threshold voltage levels as low as 1.6V can be supplied by contacting Catalyst marketing or any Catalyst Semiconductor field sales office.

"We have successfully supplied proprietary mixed-signal products that combine 16K EEPROM memory and supervisory functions for several years", said Catalyst Director of Marketing David Gillooly.

"Many customers have asked us to be the alternate source for single-function supervisors that have primarily been available from Maxim Integrated Products.

This new segment is welcoming us as an alternate supplier of these products that also offers high customer service levels".

Markets for microprocessor supervisors include PC motherboards, embedded control systems, set-top boxes, power-monitoring equipment, power meters, medical equipment and data communication terminals.

The worldwide supervisor circuit market is estimated at over $250 million.

The CAT809 and CAT810 are offered in 3-pin SOT23 and space saving 3-pin SC70 packages.

The CAT811 and CAT812, with a manual reset input, are offered in 4-pin SOT143 packages.

Prices start at $0.20 in 10,000-piece quantities.

Devices are available for sampling now with delivery schedules of 6 to 8 weeks.
