Two new high-efficiency, nonisolated DC/DC convertors are designed for use in intermediate bus distributed power architectures (DPAs)

Ideal for applications ranging from servers to telecommunications equipment, the new NNL05S04 and NNL05S12 will suit a variety of designs that require accurate voltage outputs for high-performance FPGAs, ASICs, DSPs and microprocessors. Designed for use with nominal 3.0-5.5 and 10.8-13.2V intermediate bus architectures, respectively, the NNL05S04 and NNL05S12 deliver high-precision output voltages and a maximum 5.0A output current.

Typical efficiency levels are up to 93%.

A compact, low-profile form factor and built-in protection functionality simplifies the design of new applications, while industry-standard surface mount and SIP formats ensures that the devices are also suited as "drop-in" replacements in existing products.

The new convertors offer user-selectable output voltages of between 0.75 and 3.3V and feature a low typical output ripple and noise rating of just 24mV (peak-to-peak).

Voltage accuracy is up to 0.3%, and typical line and load regulation are 0.76 and 0.52%, respectively.

Integrated functionality includes continuous short-circuit protection, output overcurrent protection, and overtemperature protection.

A remote on/off capability is also built into each convertor.

The NNL05S04 and NNL05S12 operate at temperatures from -40 to +85C.

Surface mount versions have dimensions of 20.2 x 11.2 x 5.0mm, whereas leaded versions measure 22.9 x 10.2 x 6.2mm.

Both devices are certified to all major international approvals standards including UL60950-1/EN60950-1, CSA C22.2 and VDE0805:2001-12.

Pricing for the convertors is less than US $7.00 per device in OEM quantities.
