Cambridge Silicon Radio has opened a design centre in Taiwan to support its customers in the development of Bluetooth products

The CSR Wireless Design Support Centre Taiwan will be staffed by CSR engineers committed to providing customers with assistance in Bluetooth designs with plans to expand the number of engineers during 2004. An applications laboratory has also been set up at the design centre that will enable engineers to provide technical support to ease the design process.

Holding more than an 80% share of Bluetooth 1.1 qualified end products in Taiwan, CSR has recognised the importance of increasing the level of support for Bluetooth design activity in Taiwan and is responding to the needs of its customers by opening the design centre.

The opening of CSR Wireless Design Centre Taiwan will not affect CSR's distribution, and Apache Communication will remain the main source of supply for CSR's BlueCore technology in the country.

However, with the additional expertise brought by the design centre, designers now have the full spectrum of support to create Bluetooth devices, from specialised technical support to distribution.

Matthew Phillips, Vice President of Sales for Asia, CSR, commented: "Opening a dedicated design support centre in Taiwan will enable CSR to work in even closer collaboration with our Taiwanese customers and assist them in the personalised service that they deserve".
