Cambridge Silicon Radio has helped SeekerNet to provide the industry's first Bluetooth-based wireless asset tracking and status monitoring system

Known as a Real Time Location System (RTLS), SeekerNet's product can track and, using a variety of sensing technologies, monitor the status of either a fixed or mobile asset for applications ranging from supply chain management to security to asset monitoring and control. Prior to the introduction of SeekerNet's system, Bluetooth has not been used in RTLS systems.

Robert Twitchell, President, SeekerNet commented, "SeekerNet is the first company to provide on-demand, high speed, two-way communications to your assets with multi-year battery lives using standards-based radios.

CSR's Bluetooth chipset was chosen due to its high level of integration and attention to power consumption requirements".

SeekerNet has developed patented technology that dramatically increases the performance of battery operated asset tracking and status monitoring systems.

This combination of technologies dramatically improves the economics of a RTLS system to the point where many new applications become feasible.

John Halksworth, Product Manager, CSR added, "Providing the silicon for SeekerNet to develop the first Bluetooth-enabled asset tracking and status monitoring system adds to the spectrum of products that CSR's silicon is included in.

The strength of CSR's BlueCore technology lies in its ability to latch onto and create Bluetooth connectivity with virtually any electronic device".
