KIPA was created by the Korean Ministry of Information and Communication to ensure the effective implementation of an initiative to stimulate growth in the Korean IT industry.
The organisation will license Cadence electronic design automation (EDA) software for its academy and support centre.
Cadence will also supply training that will enable KIPA to provide instruction to many small- and medium-sized incubator companies.
Cadence Korea will begin this technical training in a KIPA training facility in April 2004.
The KIPA IT-SoC Academy expects to train about 750 students per year.
"We are honoured to support KIPA's efforts to develop the world-class SoC design talent that is needed to enable Korea to compete in the global semiconductor market", said Ray Bingham, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cadence Design Systems, "Our unique combination of design expertise, technology, and open collaboration will be key to helping Korea build this SoC design capability".
