Accelonix has been appointed by both Data I/O Corp and Datacon Technology to deliver their PCB assembly and test solutions in the UK. This follows Accelonix's appointment by Dage Precision Industries in the latter part of 2004. The appointments form part of Accelonix's strategy for aggressive growth planned for 2005 and will significantly enhance the Accelonix product offering.
Datacon is one of the leading and most innovative suppliers in the industry and the world's leader in flip chip technology.
Part of the BESI group (BE Semiconductor Industries) Datacon develops and produces high-precision equipment for leading microelectronics companies worldwide such as Bosch, Fairchild, Siemens, Infineon, ST Micro, Skyworks as well as Asian subcontractors like Amkor, ASE and STATSChipPAC.
Paul Phillips, Managing Director of Accelonix believes that the UK represents huge potential for Datacon's products, in particular its new platform for dedicated flip chip assembly, the 8800 FC platform launched last year.
'Datacon products have sold widely in Scandinavia and Benelux in recent years'.
'We intend to replicate that success in the UK'.
Commenting on the industry generally, Phillips added: 'The UK market is buoyant and we are seeing companies 'on-shoring' again particularly for low to medium volume manufacture'.
'Asian manufacturers simply can't offer the flexibility that the UK manufacturing base can'.
'Companies have experienced difficulties with product and design stability as well as documentation issues by manufacturing in Asia'.
'It only works well for high volume players'.
Data I/O is widely known as the market leader for device programmers in production, development and service applications.
Commenting on the partnership with Data I/O, Phillips said: 'Our goal is to further broaden the presence of Data I/O in Great Britain and address the many exciting new opportunities which exist in the region for automotive telematics, military/aerospace electronics and medical devices'.
'We believe that the quality of Data I/O products, the company and its people will further enhance our reputation for delivering first-class products and services'.
