Now available from Boss Enclosures is a range of high quality, 19in racks with the option of a secure access entry control system. The stylish Logic range of 19in racks are supplied as easy to assemble flatpack racks that are available in widths of 600 or 800mm, depths of 600 or 900mm, a range of heights and with many rack accessories. Providing total security to modern instrument racks is extremely important for installations that house expensive equipment or secure information like CCTV equipment and computer servers.

In addition to preventing theft, it also avoids the possibility of unauthorised changes to system settings and, in the case of a large, multivendor site, denies access of third party service engineers to other vendors' equipment.

These racks will be used widely in industrial electronics, telecommunication systems, communication networks, CCTV installations, data centres, network servers and the broadcast industry.

The secure access system fitted to the racks provides lock control and identity device recognition and uses an embedded Flash PIC-based core processor module from CASC, a specialist security access company.

The system can be accessed via intelligent programmable touch buttons, swipe and smart cards, proximity cards, logic cards, fingerprint readers and other biometrics systems.

It is possible to link the security system to a network so that it can be operated remotely, for example a gate house or security office, and it can also be operated stand-alone or linked to a PC via an RS232/485 link.

The system can provide remote access and interrogation from almost anywhere in the world via the Internet.

A number of alarms, time-outs and extra security safeguards are built into the electronics and all events are logged with the data then exported to remote software.

The Boss Logic range of racks takes full advantage of new materials and the latest production techniques.

The use of symmetry design on all sides and aluminium extruded sections throughout makes for simple, precise and secure assembly.

The flatpack design reduces shipping and storage costs and is ideal for applications where access is difficult.

Assembly of the rack only takes 5 minutes but it is still capable of carrying a 500kg static load.
