TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments) has been appointed as the exclusive UK distributor of AC power sources from California Instruments

With over 40 years experience in the AC power industry, California Instruments has developed an extensive range of cost-effective AC and DC power solutions for a wide range of applications. It is now the world market leader for this type of equipment. Products that operate from any standard AC power supply (whether from mains utilities or specialist avionics systems) in today's environment are likely to encounter variations and disturbances that adversely affect microprocessor-based control systems.

It has therefore become essential to thoroughly test new designs and sometimes every product manufactured with simulated non-standard power.

Another significant application is the need to operate equipment from an AC power standard not available at the location of the equipment.

This can be 400Hz in a hanger workshop or 60Hz equipment being operated in the UK.

Models available from CI include fixed and variable output units, fixed and variable AC frequency changers and fully featured sources with advanced power analysis.

Programmable AC loads and AC current sources are also available.

Power capabilities vary from 800VA to 135kVA.

Other capabilities include lighting ballast design and test, AC motor and adjustable frequency drive testing and IEC compliance testing.

Many of the CI products are controllable and fully programmable via IEEE488 (GPIB) or RS232C using industry standard SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments) programming language.

A Windows graphical user interface (GUI) is included with most products.

Many applications are in automated test equipment requiring custom software.

A range of instrument drivers is provided for popular instrumentation programming environments.

They are provided as source code and can be downloaded from the California Instruments website.

Comments John Cornwell, Managing Director of Tti: "We are highly delighted to be responsible for this professional, innovative range in the UK and to be associated with the world market leader.

This AC capability perfectly compliments our existing manufactured and distribution range of DC products, enabling us to tackle a complete portfolio of power requirements and applications".
