The fact that each active trace is presented in a unique colour saves time, especially when three or more waveforms are displayed, by making it easier to distinguish waveforms at a glance.

Associated screen readouts and front-panel controls are similarly colour-coded for easy control and accurate interpretation.

TDS2000 oscilloscopes feature 11 automatic measurements as standard, including rise-time and fall-time, frequency, RMS and peak-to-peak values.

In addition, on-screen cursors can be used to make manual measurements.

In both cases, the measurements are linked to the channel colour to improve visual clarity of the data.

Both two- and four-channel models have an external trigger input, so that all input channels can be used to capture and compare useful waveform information whilst triggering the instrument from a known source.

A trigger view feature can be invoked to verify the characteristics of the trigger source.

Whatever the source, a high-resolution digital frequency counter displays the trigger frequency on-screen.
