Digital control for precision power
The QL Series is a high-performance laboratory bench power-supply range which provides exceptionally high levels of precision, resolution and stability
Setting resolution is 1mV in up to 56V, and setting accuracy is 0.03%. The QL follows on from the PL series, which has become the most widely used power-supply range within the UK electronics industry. The all-digital system control employs instrumentation-quality 16bit digital/analogue convertors combined with very low-drift, low-noise amplifiers.

Handheld analyser aids RFID surveys
Upgraded handheld spectrum analyser is billed as an ideal tool for companies making site surveys for UHF RFID applications
True linear power regulation is used, yielding output ripple and noise of less than 0.5mV.
Single- and triple-output models are available with output power ranging from 105 to 215W.
QL series power supplies can operate in constant-voltage or constant-current modes with automatic crossover.
Voltages can be set to a resolution of 1mV right up to maximum output voltage, and currents can be set or measured down to 0.1mA.
For greater flexibility, switchable ranges are provided, allowing higher currents to be generated at lower voltages.

Handheld spectrum analysers join R and S range
Rohde and Schwarz has appointed TTi as a distributor for its range of handheld spectrum analysers and RF power meters
The QL355, for example, provides a maximum current of 3A up to 35V.
A second range increases the current capability to 5A for voltages up to 15V.
The user interface has been designed to provide rapid control while guarding against any possibility of mistakes.
The QL series provides both numeric and rotary control.
Direct numeric entry provides a fast and safe method for entering precise values with the new setting being previewed before it is confirmed.
For applications where the voltage or current must be gradually changed, the rotary control allows settings to be incremented or decremented in a variety of step sizes.
The current limit or voltage limit settings can be reviewed at any time by pressing the "view limits" button.
An instant "watts view" (volts times amperes) with a resolution of 0.01W is also available.
QL series power supplies have up to 30 nonvolatile memories for rapid recall of settings.
Stored values are previewed onto the display before being confirmed.
A further power-down memory ensures that all settings are restored when the unit is powered back on.
Excellent line and load regulation is matched with rapid recovery from transients.
Remote sense terminals are provided for perfect regulation at the load.
Local or remote sensing can be selected at the touch of a button.
User-settable overvoltage and overcurrent trips are included.
An isolated output is provided on the rear panel for direct control of other equipment.
Automatic shutdown is implemented for overheating through blocked ventilation, regulator failure, or sense lead miswiring.
The QL series has a compact footprint for bench use and can also be rack-mounted.
Up to three single-output units can be mounted side by side.
Duplicate rear terminals are available for rack use.
Size is 140 x 160 x 290mm and weight is 5.5kg.
An optional bus interface is available incorporating fully isolated GPIB (IEEE488), RS232 and USB interfaces.
The USB interface is particularly suited to direct control from a personal computer.
Prices in the UK start at GBP 349.
