Waveform monitor watches high-definition TV
The Leader LV 5152DA is a waveform monitor specifically designed for high-definition TV applications
The instrument can handle 14 different HDTV formats with automatic format selection and automatic colorimetry adjustment to match the selected system. Detection and logging of colour gamut errors is included, as is the separation of the embedded AES/EBU digital information from the signal being processed, giving eight output channels in four pairs.

A readout in hex format of all data points on a selected raster line is provided, with the choice of manual line selection or line capture as the result of a detected TRS error.
Extensive monitoring functions include waveform, vector, picture and stereo monitoring.
All observations are presented on an instrument-grade CRT display, with facilities for line selection, precision cursors, menu control of digital and analogue setups and storage of ten front-panel setups.
The LV 5152DA accepts two SDI inputs switchable from the front panel, and provides a buffered SDI output from the feed selected.
Input selection includes one three-wire analogue input.
Decoded pix-monitor outputs may be set to either YpbPr or GBR.
Monitoring facilities include data capture triggered by selected line number or detected error and displayed as hex data for the selected line and addresses.
A reading of serial data signal level, given in terms of equivalent cable length from an ideal source, aids in the evaluation of SDI conditions.
An error-detection system spots CRC errors in video, audio and ANC data.
The time of first error is shown, along with total error count and time elapsed from the first error to facilitate BER determinations.
A white phosphor CRT is provided; green phosphor is optional.
Other options include composite NTSC waveform monitor, 525/625 component analogue video waveform/vectorscope modes, and HD component readouts as volts peak-peak, percentage or hex.
