Voxpilot has incorporated Babel's BrightSpeech text to speech (TTS) engine in its range of VoiceXML gateway products, including SpeechSuite, the multilanguage, fully VoiceXML 1.0 and 2.0 compliant premise-based platform. Under a new agreement, Babel will also be able to offer Voxpilot's VoiceXML outsourced solutions, enabling the rapid and cost-effective development and deployment of telephony applications across Europe. Voxpilot is a VoiceXML development portal offering a range of tools and services for developers.
These include an online development environment, a VoiceXML gateway, VSP hosting, and local access telephone numbers for deployment in all major European markets.
Voxpilot's multilanguage SpeechSuite platform powers IVR services such as voice portals, directory assistance, mobile entertainment, as well as enabling access to web content and call centre databases from any telephone.
The platform is flexible, robust and features distributed implementation to maximise call density and minimise latency.
SpeechSuite delivers exceptional value in the areas of scalability, cost savings, faster time to market and support for most European languages and for a variety of TTS engines.
Voxpilot will offer US English, French, German, Spanish and Swedish language versions of BrightSpeech on its SpeechSuite platform.
Dr Jon Alcantara, CEO of Voxpilot, said: "Babel's BrightSpeech was a natural choice for Voxpilot, as it offers simple, fast and inexpensive development and deployment of professional voice applications on our SpeechSuite platform.
Speech applications help enterprises cut costs, achieve higher customer satisfaction, and open new revenue streams, making SpeechSuite and BrightSpeech an effective combination".
Dr Michaela Heigl, Marketing Manager of Voxpilot, added: "As well as offering a broad language set for our customers to choose from, BrightSpeech offers an exceptionally natural sounding voice quality, and we anticipate it will be highly popular".
BrightSpeech is the revolutionary next-generation text-to-speech (TTS) solution from Babel Technologies.
It offers unlimited application opportunities for software developers wishing to use synthetic speech as an information carrier of exceptional quality, for their products or services.
Based on Unit Selection technology, this human-sounding TTS engine can be easily integrated into telecomms servers and multimedia applications, making it the ideal speech solution for voice portals, interactive voice response systems, unified messaging (including e-mail reading), educational software and interactive kiosks.
Vincent Fontaine, CEO of Babel Technologies said: "Within the telecomms industry, BrightSpeech is gaining a reputation as being one of the most flexible and versatile TTS engines available.
Babel is pleased to count Voxpilot among its telecomms partners; Voxpilot's Europe-wide offering combined with the near-human naturalness of BrightSpeech, is driving further demand for this engine across a broad range of telephony applications".
BrightSpeech has been released in Dutch (B), French, German, Spanish, Swedish and US English, and an ongoing development effort ensures that it will progressively cover Babel's full range of 18 languages.
In the course of 2003, BrightSpeech will also be adapted to mobile platforms to provide the same unequalled naturalness and supreme voice quality for automotive and mobile device applications.
