Aspex Semiconductor will launch a new open standard application programming interface at IBC 2005.

Aspex Semiconductor, a UK-based fabless semiconductor company developing leading-edge software programmable extreme processors, will launch a new open standard application programming interface at IBC 2005.

OpenRL allows developers of high-performance image processing applications to take advantage of plug-in hardware accelerators without needing to understand the underlying accelerator.

This reduces their time to market, and reduces risk and development costs.

Aspex will be at IBC in Hall 7, Stand 809.

Developed in conjunction with Imagineer Systems, OpenRL is a platform-independent API.

It is targeted at developers of image processing software in the broadcast, video and film postproduction markets, and can be used for developing any high-performance image processing application.

For designers wishing to develop image processing applications around the new OpenRL API, Aspex offers an OpenRL development kit to provide a quick start environment for software developers.
