The Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), billed as the premier global event in power electronics, will be held in Austin, Texas, from 6th to 10th March 2005. APEC, jointly sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society, the IEEE Industry Applications Society and the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA), is noted for presenting top-quality, peer-reviewed, noncommercial papers of practical importance related to the design and application of power electronics. The APEC 2005 Exposition, with nearly 150 of the leading companies offering products of interest to practicing power electronics professionals and designers, will run from 7th to 9th March.
'Even though this is APEC's 20th year, this is a year of firsts', said Kevin Parmenter, Publicity Chairman for APEC 2005.
'We have not one but many keynote plenary presentations from the leading executives in the power electronics industry representing such organisations as: DARPA, Dell, Fairchild, IR, TI and the US EPA Energy Star programme office'.
'We have a record number of 329 peer-reviewed papers presented by authors from 28 different countries and more than ever before'.
'129 other high quality papers with a more specialised focus have been assigned to the dialogue sessions held on Thursday at mid-day'.
'These papers cover every possible area of interest to the practicing power electronics professional, from low power DC/DC convertors to high power convertors for power quality applications, magnetic design, EMI/EMC, motor drives, lighting applications, automotive and transportation applications, power systems, power semiconductors and more'.
'If you have any involvement with power electronics be it technical or business you can't afford to miss APEC 2005'.
Special events at APEC 2005 include: the eighteenth annual MicroMouse contest on the evening of Monday 7th March; the well-attended and lively 'rap sessions' on the evening of Tuesday 8th March; and a special tour of the University of Texas Centre for Electromechanics on evening of Thursday 10th March.
