Two new series of ultracompact 30A point-of-load convertor modules aim to overcome the problems of colocating high-current, low-voltage sources with the silicon devices they are powering.
Artesyn Technologies has launched two new series of ultracompact 30A point-of-load convertor modules for use on densely packed PCBs The convertors enable designers to overcome the problems of colocating high-current, low-voltage sources with the silicon devices they are powering

The new SIL30E vertical-mount modules occupy a board area of less than 4cm2, while the new surface-mount SMT30E modules are only 8.1mm high - making them perfect for systems with tight card pitches.
Both series of products feature exceptionally high current densities - the SMT30E, for example, achieves in excess of 8.3A/cm3.
SIL30E and SMT30E nonisolated POL (point-of-load) convertors accommodate output voltages from 0.8 to 3.63V and can deliver up to 30A - which is at least 75% more current than any comparably sized competing product on the market.
