Arcom Control Systems has a new PC/104 form factor embedded processor board powered by the 133MHz AMD SC520 PC-compatible controller.

The Pegasus PC/104 board uses the General Software Embedded BIOS and has been designed for demanding embedded communications applications based on DOS, Windows CE.NET and Embedded Linux.

The board can be fitted with up to 64Mbyte of soldered SDRAM, 16Mbyte of resident Flash and 128Kbyte of battery backed static RAM.

For deeply embedded applications, low power fan-less operation and all-soldered memory improve reliability and minimise the need for field maintenance.

The AMD SC520 (Am5x86) uses the local PCI bus to drive the high performance 10/100baseTx National Semiconductor MacPhyter Ethernet controller.

The board also includes four 16C550 serial ports (RS232, RS422/485 and TTL), IDE, keyboard and printer port as well as a watchdog time for system monitoring.

The use of standard connectors for the communication ports and Ethernet simplifies the integration into your OEM system solution.

Pegasus operates from a single +5v supply and typically requires 4.5W at 133MHz.

As with all Arcom processors, the Pegasus board is available with the most popular embedded operating systems preloaded and ready to run.
