Ran Mokady, entrepreneur and pioneer in the area of software for mobile devices, has been appointed to ART's Advisory Board.

A recognised authority on mobile communications, Mokady brings over a decade of international expertise to ART's leadership of the ever-expanding field of embedded speech and handwriting recognition solutions for mobile devices.

"The natural human interface is one of the most exciting fields of digital mobile communications", said Mokady.

"As the world's leading independent developer of speech and handwriting recognition solutions for the entire range of mobile devices, I'm looking forward to working closely with the technology pioneers of ART as they continue to develop their technology and expand their market presence".

"A highly respected pioneer of technologies for mobile communication devices, Ran Mokady's addition to our Advisory Board is extremely welcome", said Eran Aharonson, President of ART.

"One of the most dynamic forces in the field, we are confident that Ran will greatly contribute to the exciting developments of recognition technologies that ART is bringing to the mobile world".

Since the mid-1980s, Ran Mokady has been at the forefront of the digital revolution.

Before joining the ART advisory board, he was President and CEO of Commtag UK, a company whose "unplug and play" technology platform enabled new and enhanced person-to-person wireless applications by establishing ad-hoc peer-to-peer network connections between mobile devices.

Prior to that, he was Director of the Feature Phone Platforms division of Microsoft.

As such, he had overall responsibility for Microsoft's worldwide activities in the Feature Phone space, management of a trans-Atlantic cross functional team, and participation in a group advising Microsoft's executive management on world wide wireless strategy.

Mokady joined Microsoft when STNC became the first Microsoft acquisition in the UK in over a decade.

As Founder, President and CEO, Mokady had built STNC from a two-person start-up into a multi-million international company, the first to integrate microbrowsers into mass-market mobile phones, with a customer base that included Sony, Ericsson and others.

Mokady began his career as a software engineer and project manager at Acorn Computers, pioneers of PCs for the educational market, and the creator of the ARM microprocessor, where he was a key contributor to the development of the RISCOS operating system.

Today, as well as his activities within ART, Mokady also manages a small number of angel investments in early stage UK high technology private companies.
