APW Enclosure Solutions has extended its range of power distribution units

APW Enclosure Solutions has extended its range of power distribution units with the addition of 12-way 32A high-power standard and intelligent units and 8- and 12-way 16A intelligent versions, all available with either French, German or UK socket outlets. The 32A versions have been introduced in response to the increasing power densities in server racks, where, in many applications such as data centres and server farms, the traditional PDU, plugged into the normal ring main and thereby limited to a maximum of 13A total load, is no longer an adequate method of powering the entire rack.

On the standard versions, all outputs power up or down simultaneously.

The intelligent versions are web, Telnet and SNMP enabled via APW's Active Rak Controller, which provides the management functionality and network interface capability.

Each output in addressable, allowing the network manager remotely to monitor and manage the power input to any single server at will.

They also provide sequential power up and down, minimising total inrush current into the enclosure.

All units are fitted with multiple fixing options consisting of slide-out 19in brackets in the end caps, brackets that can be used for recessed or vertical mounting and integral cage nut retainers, enabling the units to be mounted anywhere in an enclosure without the need for additional fixings.
