Veritas Software is the leading provider of storage management software for data protection, application availability, and disaster recovery. Its products offer proven interoperability across diverse applications, servers, storage hardware, and appliances. With more than 5700 employees in 36 countries, Veritas Software ranks among the top 10 software companies in the world measured by market capitalisation and revenue.

The company recently moved into a brand new UK development located in Green Park, Reading; as part of the move the company installed new suites of APW Enclosure Products' Paramount and IMserv enclosures in its data centre and support laboratories.

The company selected the 1000mm deep Paramount for the data centres because of its robust construction, good thermal management capabilities, its load carrying capacity, its security features and its ability to house servers from any manufacturer, whatever their mechanical configuration.

In addition to its customer-facing activities, the Reading site is the hub for all European operations, so reliable operation in a secure environment is critical.

In the support laboratories, Veritas Software recreates customers' software environments; the hardware is also reconfigured relatively frequently, and so IMserv, with its wealth of different shelf options, power distribution panels, segmented variable depth panel mountings and other accessories, was the enclosure of choice.

For both Paramount and IMserv, an attractive appearance and good fit and finish were also important elements in the decision making process.

In addition to manufacturing and supplying the enclosures, APW also project managed the entire installation process.

An implementation plan was drawn up and presented to Veritas; an on-site team received and inspected the enclosures, installed and configured them with the requisite arrangement of shelves and cable management accessories and then formally handed them over to Veritas for the installation of their active equipment.
