Ansoft has joined the Synopsys in-Sync programme to improve interoperability with Synopsys' Encore chip packaging software

Ansoft has joined the Synopsys in-Sync programme to improve the interoperability between Synopsys' Encore chip packaging software, HSpice, the golden standard for accurate circuit simulation, and Ansoft's HFSS, SIwave, Spicelink and Turbo Package Analyzer (TPA). "Design-tool interoperability is critical for the design of complex ICs, PCBs, IC packages and high-speed components", said Karen Bartleson, Director of Quality and Interoperability at Synopsys.

"The in-Sync programme establishes relationships between Synopsys and electronic design automation (EDA) vendors like Ansoft to identify and implement optimal joint flows that maximise the productivity of our mutual customers".

Users of Synopsys' Encore can now export their designs to an Ansoft tool and then, if desired, output their files to Synopsys HSpice for further analysis.

This is especially advantageous in the design of complex, high-speed passive interconnects, where electrical behaviour depends on effects not included in circuit-simulation tools.

"Synopsys' in-Sync programme helps our mutual customers meet their stringent design-flow requirements", said Brad Cole, Ansoft's Product Marketing Manager, Signal Integrity Products.

"This important link to Synopsys Encore and HSpice enables our customers to benefit from the enhanced accuracy the Synopsys and Ansoft design flow provides".
