Anritsu has introduced the 36584 series of AutoCal modules that provides fast, repeatable and high-quality coaxial calibrations for the company's innovative Scorpion vector network measurement systems (VNMS). Capable of two-, three- and four-port calibrations, the precisely characterised AutoCal modules reduce downtime on the manufacturing line by requiring only a single connection instead of the separate short, open, load through (SOLT) connections of a manual calibration. AutoCal modules are superior alternatives to SOLT calibrations because they deliver more repeatable calibrations, which translates into increased throughput, lower manufacturing costs, and improved yield by avoiding mistakes caused by incorrect manual calibration procedures.

The 36584 series covers the 10MHz to 9GHz frequency range.

It has been specifically designed to be used with Scorpion, which is a cost-effective solution for manufacturers who need to conduct fast and accurate measurements on both single-ended and balanced devices, such as those used in today's mobile handsets.

The simple calibration procedure is completely controlled by the VNMS.

The AutoCal module characterisation, which is traceable to NIST, is used to aid in the removal of normal systematic errors.

With the AutoCal modules, engineers who must characterise multiport devices are assured of repeatable, accurate, and stable measurements in both R and D and manufacturing environments.

In addition to increased accuracy and repeatability, the AutoCal modules dramatically reduce downtime compared to traditional time-consuming SOLT calibrations, especially for three- and four-port calibrations.

With AutoCal, the 15 component connections typically required for a four-port calibration are eliminated, improving productivity and reducing the chances for improper calibration due to an incorrect connection.
