Cisco pioneers use of IP tester
Cisco Systems is the first customer for Anritsu's recently introduced MD1230A IP tester
Following detailed discussions regarding the unit and exchanges of information, Cisco Sweden had the confidence to become the first customer in the world to place an order. The unit will be used by Cisco to support the development of the ONS15252 DWDM metro system product. Shortly after this order, Cisco Japan used the MD1230A during a seminar for 100 customers to help introduce its NGR "next generation router", the 12404.

Optical device tester strikes up a big band
Novel optical device tester can perform rapid insertion loss measurements on any fibre or bulk optical component over the entire telecomms band
Anritsu Japan lent a unit configured for 10G and 2.5G POS to enable Cisco to demonstrate the capabilities of the new 12404 Internet router, along with existing 7600 Series, 7400 Series and the 10000 Series.
The MD1230A was used to test the interoperability of the 12404 and provide a live performance test of the router to RFC2544.
Anritsu's MD1230A meets the need for IP testing in assessing the performance capability of Terabit routers and the requirement for in-service monitoring of traffic on existing networks.

Spectrum analysers have many measurement features
A family of microwave spectrum analysers have a dynamic range of typically 100dB and a full suite of measurement features, allowing them to test RF and microwave devices quickly and precisely
The new analyser provides test capability on multiple 10G POS, 2.5G POS, 1G Ethernet and 10/100 Ethernet interfaces.
For example, 40 x 10/100 ports or 5 x 2.5G POS ports may be deployed in a single chassis.
Furthermore, multiple chassis may be centrally controlled to increase the port density.
Using this rich port density and integrating automatic RFC2544 measurement, the MD1230A is ideally suited to checking the performance of terabit routers.
The MD1230A's multiport functionality can also be used to provide through-mode monitoring of live networks.
In this mode, the analyser can provide VPN QoS traffic monitoring using VLAN or Diffserv tags.
It also provides comprehensive SDH overhead monitoring, and can capture and decode protocols from Layer 2 to Layer 4.
The MD1230A also provides full remote operations capability with GPS synchronisation for latency measurements, and multi-user remote control software enabling resource allocation to different users and parallel testing.
