ARM-based module offers easy embedding
The latest generation of an ultrasmall ARM-based SOM (system-on-module), which has been extremely successful since its launch a year ago, is now available from Anders Electronics
This latest version of the product, which is forward and backward compatible with the original, offers several major improvements, including better graphics performance, cost-efficient Ethernet, touchscreen controller and improved compatibility with CAMI mechanical specs. These further extend the product's capability to address an even wider range of embedded applications.

The new addition to the Armcore family is the Armcore-GX, and is designed to serve as a building block in embedded applications.
The product has all the components needed to run operating systems such as Linux, VxWorks and Windows CE, and ready-to-run packages for these operating systems are available from Anders.
With a smaller footprint than a credit card and inexpensive (available from sub-$50 prices for volume orders), the Armcore-GX is ideal for integration into handheld and mobile applications, providing a powerful computing core.

Embedded computing platform combines a PC/104+ modular architecture with CANbus connectivity, Ethernet connections, PCMCIA and CardBus interfaces
In fact, based on Intel's XScale architecture, the Armcore-GX provides a price/performance ratio significantly better than those provided by X86-compatible solutions.
The feature set of the Armcore-GX module combines a 32bit CPU, SDRAM, Flash disk and vital computing peripherals.
For embedded applications, the Armcore-GX provides a 32bit PCIbus, 100Mbit/s Ethernet, serial ports, general purpose I/O lines and many other essential functions.
Standardised CAMI (CompuLab's Aggregated Module Interface) connectors on the Armcore-GX module allow interchangeability with other Core modules, enabling the flexibility required in a dynamic market where application requirements can change rapidly.
The Armcore-GX comprises an Intel PXA255 CPU up to 400MHz with an integrated graphics controller, SDRAM, Flash disk, PCMCIA interface, 100Mbit/s Ethernet, USB, sound, touchscreen controller, serial ports, infra-red interface, general purpose I/O, real-time clock, PS/2 keyboard and mouse controller, parallel port, and interfaces to floppy and hard disks.
Many of these features are optional and are included according to the application's requirements.
The Armcore-GX provides a local bus as well as PCI and LPC buses for interface to off-board expansions.
The module is designed for mezzanine attachment to a custom baseboard via two miniature 140-pin connectors. Request a free brochure from Anders Electronics....
