The industry's first 14bit, +/-10V, bipolar-output D/A convertor with a serial interface provides a novel solution for industrial control and instrumentation applications. The AD5531 from Analog Devices offers high accuracy (+/-2LSB-INL accuracy) and is pin- and software-compatible with the 12bit AD5530 (+/-1LSB-INL accuracy). Both chips use a versatile three-wire serial interface compatible with SPI, QSPI, Microwire and DSP interface standards.
Applications these DACs are well suited for include digital gain and offset control, process control, automatic test equipment, and general-purpose data acquisition and instrumentation.
Other features include power down, data read-back and daisy chaining of parts over a single interface.
Operating current is less than 2mA and less than 50uA in the power-down mode.
On-chip reference buffers allow use of a single positive reference voltage.
Supplied in a small 16-lead TSSOP package, the parts operate over -40 to +85C with dual supplies between +/-12 and +/-15V.
The AD5530 and the AD5531 are available now and cost $4.25 and $6.95 per unit, respectively, in 1000-piece quantities.
