Anite Telecoms has reported a period of strong growth, with figures just released showing turnover up 74% to GBP 18 million for first half, with record order intake at GBP 17.6 million

Anite Telecoms has reported a period of strong growth, with figures just released showing turnover up 74% to GBP 18 million for first half (to 31st October 2001), with record order intake at GBP 17.6 million, 35% up on the previous year despite a tougher market. This year's order book already includes a number of substantial contracts of between GBP 500,000 and GBP 800,000 from many of the world's leading terminal manufacturers.

The Terminal Systems Division has shown strong performance, particularly in the USA and the Far East.

In both regions manufacturers are maintaining investment in the latest Anite handset test solutions to support new product development and to achieve a fast time-to-market.

In the USA, where the 850MHz band has been freed for GSM network operators, Anite has secured significant contract wins as a result of its expertise with 850MHz-compatible test solutions.

In addition, Anite Telecoms' technological lead has been maintained by its cutting edge Dual-RAT (GSM and UMTS) tester, which was launched during the period.

Anite Telecoms' acquisition of Calculus Solutions, the billing provider, has developed well during the period with strong consultancy revenues and new licence wins.

Nigel Coxon, Anite Telecoms Managing Director, commented, "Our financial strength is good for our customers, it enables us to invest in our staff, provide better customer support, open further local offices and to increase our product development spend, which is expected to rise by 25% to GBP 5 million this year.

Our results are a singular achievement, given the toughest of market conditions".

Anite's Telecoms business provides test solutions to mobile phone manufacturers and network operators.

It employs 200 people and has bases in Fleet, Chicago, Yokohama and Beijing.

Anite Telecoms also provides network efficiency tools and billing solutions for network providers.

Anite Telecoms is a subsidiary of Anite Group plc, a major player in the European IT consultancy and services sector, which reported an overall half-year turnover increase up 41% to GBP 92.6 million.
