Savvy and service
proves a winning combination
PCB specialist ALR Services celebrates its 10th anniversary this month
From humble beginnings, the Oxfordshire-based company can now justly claim to be one of the largest PCB brokerages in Europe, supplying products sourced from both UK and off-shore manufacturers. Founder and managing director Jim Rosseter attributes the company's success to its commitment to a solution-led service built on its considerable technical, logistical and commercial expertise within the PCB market.

To mark its appearance at Southern Electronics 2006, PCB supplier ALR Services is offering free tooling on first orders to all new customers
'ALR Services was founded on the principle of providing a complete sourcing solution for the electronics industry', says Rosseter.
'So rather than just trying to come up with the cheapest prices, we aim to create a package that best suits a customer's particular application'.
'This includes not just finding the right PCB technology, but also working with the customer to devise the most efficient purchasing and inventory models, helping to minimise production costs and risk exposure'.
This blend of savvy and service has proved a winning combination for ALR Services.
Initially operating from Jim Rosseter 's garage, early success enabled the company to acquire its first premises in Long Crendon, Oxfordshire, shortly thereafter.
Just two years later, a second branch was opened in Newport, South Wales, headed by Ian Jeremiah.
Over subsequent years - and despite sometimes inclement economic conditions - the company has continued to grow steadily, moving to its current home at Chalgrove in 2003.
Now with 15 employees, ALR Services enjoys a well-established reputation within the European PCB market for excellent customer service and competitive pricing.
'We are grateful for the support of our customers over the last 10 years', says Jim Rosseter: 'And we look forward to being able develop these customer relationships still further in the future'.
In today's complex global market, ALR Services' impartiality and exhaustive knowledge of PCB technology - which includes Europe's only lead-free assembly laminate performance database - is increasingly valuable in enabling customers to choose the right technology for their application.
This is especially true in the run-up to the introduction of lead-free next year.
'Whatever the application', says Rosseter, 'impartial and helpful advice on any PCB related topic is just a phone call away'.
'So if we can help, just call us'.
