Allegro MicroSystems has been awarded the distinguished 2001 Frost and Sullivan Market Engineering Leadership Award in the Hall-effect sensors segment

Allegro offers a broad line of silicon-based products based on Hall-effect technology, which allows contactless magnetic sensing devoid of mechanical wear using either an external magnet or a ferrous object. Specifically, Allegro's Hall-effect sensors are used for highly accurate gear-tooth sensing, direction detection, contactless switching, linear, speed and position sensing.

According to new market information from Frost and Sullivan ("Market engineering research for the world magnetic sensor market, 1996-2006"), Allegro's strong market position is based on its price/performance ratio, bringing high-quality magnetic sensing devices at a low cost to the automotive and engineering industries.

"Today, end-user industries are demanding more reliable, accurate and low cost Hall-effect sensors, especially in the automotive market, where they are heavily used in the manufacturing process", comments Daniela Carrillo, Frost and Sullivan industry research analyst: "Allegro is able to meet all these demands by offering all-in-one sensing devices at a lower price than any other company.

From implementing higher technology into its product line to creating innovative Hall-effect sensor IC devices, Allegro MicroSystems strives to produce high-quality multiple product lines at affordable prices".

"Allegro is honoured to have received this award.

It is a direct result of our commitment to provide next generation Hall-effect solutions to the marketplace", says Ravi Vig, Allegro's Vice-President for sensor product: "We have key differentiators including advanced technology, innovative packaging and intellectual property, and we are especially focused on combining mechanical and electronic aspects to simplify the design process for the engineer".
