Aimtec's DC/DC converters offer the flexibility required for applications with loosely regulated inputs or battery-powered applications where input voltages can vary greatly with the battery levels.

The 30W converters offer input ranges of 9-18,18-36 and 36-75V, and pack 15W/psi in a 2 x 1in package, saving up to 35 per cent PCB space compared with 30W converters in a 2 x 1.6in package, Aimtec claims.

The AM30E-Z series offers input/output isolation of 1,600V DC to protect the load circuit from any transient voltage surges present at the input of the converter.

Single and dual outputs include 3.3, 5, 5.1, 12 and 15V DC, and feature a load regulation of +/-0.5 per cent (single output) and continuous short-circuit protection with auto-recovery restart to protect the converter, the load and the converter's input circuit from extremely high currents.

Other features include soft start, which contributes to an MTBF of 435,000hrs; remote on/off control and a cold start-up temperature of -40C, making them suitable for a range of industrial control and outdoor applications.

In addition to being RoHS compliant, Aimtec's AM30E-Z carries the CE mark for emissions and immunity standards IEC 61000-4, EN55022 Class A and EN55024.
