Laser mouse sensor makes innovation
shortlist

Agilent's revolutionary laser navigation sensor technology has been selected as one of three finalists in the passive components/sensors category of this year's EDN Innovator/Innovation Awards.

Agilent's revolutionary laser navigation sensor technology has been selected as one of three finalists in the passive components/sensors category of this year's EDN Innovator/Innovation Awards The awards honour the people, products and technologies that have shaped the semiconductor industry during the past year

EDN's technical editors select finalists from hundreds of nominees in 16 categories.

"Many are called, but few are chosen", said John Dodge, EDN's Editor-in-Chief.

"EDN's technical editors have done outstanding work on the difficult task of identifying the finalists".

"The differences in the products EDN covers are often subtle and tricky to flush out".

"Congratulations to all the finalists on a job well done".

"It is both an honour and a privilege to be selected as a finalist for this award", said Ngoh, Kee-Hane, Vice President and General Manager of the Navigation Products Division in Agilent's Semiconductor Products Group.

"The strong market acceptance of our laser navigation sensor technology has been overwhelming".

"We are pleased that our laser mouse sensor is being quickly adopted for high-end optical mouse applications, along with the traditional LED-based optical mouse technology, also pioneered by Agilent".

Agilent's laser mouse sensor provides 20 times the surface-tracking power of an LED-based optical mouse and can track on smooth surfaces where LED-based optical mice typically fail, such as painted metal, polished wood-grain, glossy photo paper, translucent plastic and frosted glass.

In addition to enhanced tracking, it offers an 800 count-per-inch resolution, which enables more accurate cursor control on 17in, 19in and larger CRTs and flat-panel LCD screens.

Agilent's laser mouse sensor was introduced in September 2004.

Agilent has shipped more than 300 million LED-based and laser-based optical mouse sensors since 1999. Request a free brochure from Avago Technologies ...
