Acquisition boosts encoder resolution

Agilent Technologies has acquired exclusive rights to absoluteencoder technology from Optolab Microsystems, a supplier ofoptoelectronic solutions based in Erfurt, Germany. Agilent is theworld leader in motion control products, which include absoluteencoders. Agilent expects to introduce new encoders for use inindustrial automation applications based on this technology laterthis year.
The technology is designed to produce the world'ssmallest, high-speed absolute encoder capable of resolutionsranging from 12 to 16bit.
