Hot-pluggable transceiver for Fibre Channel
Agilent Technologies has announced volume availability of its 2Gbit/s small-form-pluggable (SFP) fibre-optic transceiver for Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs).
The new encoders are compact, with a diameter of 23mm and height of 17.9mm, and represent a very attractive and economical solution to measuring speed, rotational direction and position of the motor shaft in a huge range of applications.
The Agilent HEDR-54X series encoders translate rotary motion into a two-channel TTL-level digital output that consists of two square waves offset by 90 electrical degrees (ie quadrature signals).
Decoding these signals provides a measurement of shaft speed, position and direction of rotation.
Their TTL-compatible outputs allow interfacing with most motion controller circuitry.
Specifications include a resolution of 200 counts per revolution (400 steps per revolution with 2x decoding).
The encoder operates from a single 5V supply and has a frequency response of 16kHz, which permits operation at shaft speeds up to approximately 4800rev/min.
The encoder is specified for an operating temperature range of 0 to +85C.
The HEDR-54X optical encoder family is available in two mounting options: set screw or press fit, both suitable for motor shaft diameters from 2 to 5mm.
The housing is robust, fabricated from glass-filled PBT (polybutylene terephthalate). Request a free brochure from Avago Technologies ...
