Agere Systems has joined the Arapahoe Working Group to help develop and support a new open switched interconnect and data fabric interface specification for communications equipment

Agere Systems has joined the Arapahoe Working Group (AWG) to help develop and support an open switched interconnect and data fabric interface specification for communications equipment - Advanced Switching for PCI Express. Intel Corp is also supporting the advanced switching specification. Agere's key contributions to the specification are expected to help drive broad industry acceptance of the standard.

"Agere understands that customers are looking for seamless industry standard interfaces for data planes and control planes within communications equipment", said Mark Granahan, Vice President with Agere's Multiservice Networking Division.

"The Arapahoe Working Group and PCI Express are timely initiatives that Agere enthusiastically supports because they offer unified standard benefits to our customers".

"We're pleased to have Agere's support of the Advanced Switching specification", said Tim Parker, spokesperson for the Arapahoe Working Group, and Intel director of Technology Initiatives.

"The company's efforts demonstrate the overwhelming support that the specification is receiving from leading companies throughout the communications industry.

As a result, we expect to see the specification become the accepted switched-interconnect and data-fabric for future generations of communications products throughout the next decade".
