The Cage Clamp connection system is a patented innovation from WAGO that provides a novel stainless-steel clamping mechanism for automatic connection of solid or stranded wire

The Cage Clamp connection system, now available in the UK from Aerco, is a patented innovation from WAGO that provides a novel stainless-steel clamping mechanism for automatic connection of solid or stranded wire. The system is highly appreciated by engineers who recognise that interconnect problems are the source of most costly system failures.

Cage Clamp reduces wiring time, eliminates routine maintenance and provides a reliable contact every time.

Other than stripping the wire, no special wire preparation such as crimps, ferrules or tinning is necessary and studies have proven that Cage Clamp reduces wiring time by up to 75%.

The method prevents the splaying of wire strands and ensures that the wire is secured without damage.

Various sizes are available to accommodate wire diameters from 0.08mm2 to 35mm2 and the system automatically adjusts for settling strands and changes in wire sizes during use.

This is illustrated by the results of the temperature cycling tests showing that the voltage drop remains almost constant thus ensuring long-term reliability.

Most screwless systems offered by other manufacturers are based on the leaf-spring principle but this method is only recommended for large, solid wire systems since it has no sides to contain the strands and because of the sharp angle in which the wire is contacted.

Robust and highly corrosion resistant, Cage Clamp is unaffected by shock and vibration, is maintenance free and therefore is ideal for applications such as telecommunications, transport and industrial equipment.
