High-bandwidth PGA boosts acquisition performance
The latest data-acquisition card from Adlink features a novel programmable gain amplifier to overcome the traditional problems of acquiring signals faster than 500kHz
The bandwidth of the programmable gain amplifier (PGA) is usually the most important component in the accuracy of high-speed signal measurement. Commercial-off-the-shelf PGAs usually can only guarantee 500kHz bandwidth, and that implies that any signal faster than 500kHz will be distorted tremendously after it has been amplified by the PGA.

In addition, a narrow-bandwidth PGA also implies a longer settling time, thus it limits the sampling rate of a multiplexed data acquisition card.
To overcome this challenge, Adlink has designed a high-bandwidth PGA, the NuPGA, which breaks through the 500kHz bandwidth limitation and ensure the accuracy of high-speed signal measurement.
The DAQ-2204 is the first product designed to use Adlink NuPGA.
NuPGA provides 2MHz (-3dB) bandwidth and which allows signal to be settled within 0.1% error in 1us before going into the A/D convertor.
Thus allow DAQ-2204 to scan up to 64 channels with up to 2Msample/s sampling rate without compromising data integrity.
In addition, the NuPGA provides a wide range of programmable gains (1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, 50 and 200) allowing the DAQ-2204 to make accurate measurements on signals ranging from +/-0.05 to +/-10V.
