Compactness and durability characterise the new Epson EU-T400 kiosk printer available from Able Systems, which prints at 150mm/s, the highest print speed in its class. Front access for paper loading, maintenance and sensor adjustments combines with a semi-automatic paper loading function for fast and easy servicing in the field. The EU-T400 from Epson, is designed specifically for use in kiosk terminals, which are increasingly used as a point of service in many popular locations such as shopping areas, airport terminals and entertainment centres.
The need to provide printed receipts is common to all such kiosks, and printer performance is a significant factor determining transaction speeds and the total cost of ownership of the kiosk.
The kiosk printer has a lifetime of up to 300,000 receipts and the mechanism is replaceable on a module basis for fast and cost-effective maintenance.
The printer is designed to accept 6 or 8in paper rolls, and the roll is completely loaded inside the unit.
This novel feature means the dimensions with or without the full size paper roll loaded are almost identical.
With no paper roll loaded, the unit measures 350 x 194.7 x 170.6mm.
With 8in paper roll loaded, dimensions are 350 x 194.7 x 243.5mm.
The EU-T400 kiosk printer series utilise the ESC/PoS command protocol.
RS232 and IEEE 1284 bidirectional parallel interfaces are also available, and the integrated software includes an advanced printer driver for rapid applications development.
The printer driver is compatible with Windows 95/98/NT4.0/2000 and Linux, and also includes a status monitor and maintenance counter providing information on present and historical operating status.
Graphics printing capabilities include text, barcodes, logos and Windows fonts, plus effects such as underlining, enhancement, 90-degree rotation, black and white reversing and enlargement.
Asian language options are also available.
Terminal manufacturers can also adjust the unit to suit specific paper width, paper diameter, paper core diameter and paper thickness requirements.
