Adax has ported its HDC high density controller for narrowband and SS7 over IP signalling applications to the MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition (CGE) operating system (OS), an industry standard Linux-based platform for telecommunications applications. CGE is designed specifically to address the needs of telecommunications equipment manufacturers and enables Adax to meet the industry demands for more reliable and scalable carrier-grade solutions. CGE is an advanced Linux-based development platform that provides a robust and scalable standards-based open architecture.

It complements the Adax HDC, which is specifically designed for demanding telecommunications systems that have high capacity and high throughput requirements.

CGE is targeted for edge and core telecommunications, including applications for the converging IP and voice networks, such as soft switches, SGSN (serving GPRS support node) and GGSN (gateway GPRS support node), as well as signalling and voice over IP gateways.

It enhances standard Linux with additional real-time, high-availability and high-reliability features based on the Open Source Development Lab (OSDL) Carrier Grade Linux Specification.

"Whether for wireline or wireless, converging PSTN/IP or next-generation networks, our customers demand robust, carrier-grade solutions", said Robin Kent, Director of European Operations at Adax Europe.

"CGE provides the reliability we need as well as the functionality and networking capabilities for many telecomms applications".
